How to create a WhatsApp link with your phone number
Four steps, under a minute.
Choose your country code
Pick it from the list. It becomes the first digits of your link, for example 1 for the US or 852 for Hong Kong.
Type your WhatsApp number
Enter the rest of your phone number. Spaces, brackets and dashes are removed for you. Leave out any leading 0 you dial for local calls.
Add a pre-filled message (optional)
Write the message customers will see in their chat box, ready to send. The phone preview updates as you type.
Generate, then copy the link or download the QR code
Paste the link into your bio, website or emails, or print the QR code on menus, flyers and business cards.
WhatsApp link format, explained
Every link this generator makes follows WhatsApp's click-to-chat format, as documented in the WhatsApp Help Center.
- Chat link
- https://wa.me/<number>
- Chat link with a pre-filled message
- https://wa.me/<number>?text=<url-encoded message>
- Example
- https://wa.me/15551234567
- Example with a message
- https://wa.me/15551234567?text=Hi%2C%20I%20want%20to%20book%20a%20table
- Use the full number in international format: country code first, then the number.
- Leave out the + sign, spaces, brackets and dashes, and any leading zeros. Write https://wa.me/15551234567, not https://wa.me/+1-(555)123-4567.
- The message after ?text= must be URL-encoded, so a space becomes %20. The generator does this for you.
A wa.me link is already a short link. wa.me is WhatsApp's own short domain, so wa.me/15551234567 fits in a bio or on a business card as it is. Only a pre-filled message makes it longer; for print, use the QR code.
